WASHINGTON – Last week, hours of service waivers were issued at the federal and state level for certain states in response to inclement weather.

For California and Nevada, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) Western Service Center issued an emergency declaration on Friday, March 2, including waiving hours of service, for drivers “providing direct assistance supporting emergency relief efforts transporting heating fuel, including propane, natural gas and heating oil.”  The waiver was issued in response to severe winter weather experienced by the region. The waiver is in effect until April 1.  A link to the waiver is here.

In Kentucky, the state issued a waiver of hours of service for drivers transporting “petroleum and petroleum products” due to inclement weather. The order was issued on March 1 and is in effect until March 20. A link to the order is here.
