PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Pizza Hut is handing over the making of its pizzas to customers, but don’t worry—no one will get their hands dirty in the process. The pizza chain is testing a new, interactive tabletop touchscreen that would let guests build their own pies, the Chicago Sun Times reports.

Diners scroll through the menu to select the crust and toppings, with the screen big enough for all seated to have a look. A visual guide takes the patrons through the process step by step.

PizzaMarketplace reports that Pizza Hut said the interactive tables might appear at two new concept restaurants in York, Neb., and Pawtucket, R.I. Those locations, which opened earlier this year, also let customers order pizza by the slice.

The new tabletop technology gives customers more control over their order, from the size, crust, toppings and cheese. PizzaMarketplace also said guests can use the touchscreens to pay for their meals and play gaming apps.

The pizza industry has also embraced technology for web ordering. Meanwhile, rising cheese prices might push up the cost of pizza.
