Orlando Ranks First in Fast-Food Restaurants

Louisville, Ky., and Richmond, Va., round out the top three U.S. cities in the number of quick-service establishments.

ORLANDO, Fla. - The city that hosts Disney World also ranks number one in the number of fast-food restaurants in the nation, the Orlando Sentinel reports. The Daily Beast compiled the list after reviewing how many quick-service restaurants close to 500 big U.S. cities had by using data from AggData.

Orlando has the highest number of Burger Kings, KFC, McDonald??s and Subways, among other fast-food chains, per 100,000 residents ?" 463 to be precise, or 196.3 per 100,000 people. Subway has the most locations in the city.

The newspaper pointed out that 22 percent of Orlando residents are under the age of 18, according to the 2000 U.S. Census.

The following cities rounded out the top 10: Louisville, Ky. (second), Richmond, Va. (third); Miami (fourth); Las Vegas (fifth); Tampa, Fla. (sixth); Baton Rouge, La. (seventh); Cincinnati (eighth); Spokane, Wash. (ninth); and Birmingham, Ala. (10th).
