DEERFIELD, Ill. – Mondelez International Inc. is focusing its attention on its snacks, debuting a new line of snack bars and crackers made without artificial ingredients or GMOs as well as overhauling some current products, Bloomberg reports.

For the past three years, Mondelez has experienced drooping sales, but now it’s revitalizing its snacks. Vea, the new product line, will hit U.S. shelves mid-summer. The company will also reformulate Triscuits to remove GMOs and will brand the cracker as only having three ingredients.

“There was nothing out there that hit this space as well as what we developed,” said Tim Cofer, Mondelez’s chief growth officer, of why it turned to product development rather than acquisition. This past summer, Mondelez ended its pursuit of The Hershey Company.

The snack line isn’t the only category undergoing change at the company. Mondelez made a big splash this fall with the launch of its Oreo chocolate bars made with milk chocolate.
