ALEXANDRIA, Va. - NACS has added a new backgrounder and a new video to its online fuels report nacsonline.com/gasprices that is designed to address common consumer questions about the U.S. petroleum market.

A new backgrounder, "Challenges Remain Before E15 Usage Is Widespread," provides an overview of significant retailer concerns related to liability, upgrade costs and demand in light of the Environmental Protection Agency??s announcements that retailers are authorized to sell E15.

A new video from the 2011 Washington Auto Show examines the latest news from the event that is where automakers showcase to policymakers what they think the future of fuels will be.

"NACS is putting a huge emphasis on the future of fuels for a very simple reason: We cannot sit back and hope that gasoline and diesel demand will hold steady for the next 20, 30, 40 years. Especially when we see new technologies coming on the market every single year, and policies being crafted in Washington, to force new technologies into the market. We need to be nimble enough and aware of what the future holds, so that retailers can respond and profit from the new demands of the consuming public," said NACS Vice President of Government Relations John Eichberger.

The online resource is a great tool for members to share with their customers, their elected leaders and the media, and NACS encourages members to share the resources via social media.

The 2011 "NACS Annual Fuels Report: Understanding Gas Prices and More" was released February 2. Additional resources will be added throughout the year.

NACS releases its Annual Fuels Report on February 2 to coincide with two events: Groundhog Day and the beginning of the seasonal transition to summer-blend fuels.
