ALEXANDRIA, Va. – If you haven’t been to an automobile showroom in a few years, you’ll be in for a surprise next time you go. Automakers are putting a big emphasis on a few new fuels and power sources, as well as some amenities that make your car feel more like your living room.

The latest NACS Convenience Matters podcast, takes listeners through some of the bigger trends on display at the 2017 Washington Auto Show, and discusses what these new technologies mean for the convenience retail industry.

In “The Big Trends from the Auto Show,” NACS and Fuels Institute co-hosts talk about the latest trends that they saw on display. “The cars seem to be as much about building the business case to buy them as the traditional emotional appeal related to power and overall aesthetics,” said Jeff Lenard, vice president of strategic industry initiatives at NACS. “But that’s not to say you can’t have both, like with electric vehicles from the likes of Jaguar.”

A new Convenience Matters podcast is released every week, focusing on topics related to convenience stores. Since launching in February 2016, Convenience Matters has been downloaded in more than 50 countries.
