ALEXANDRIA, Va. – PCATS, the technology association for convenience and petroleum retail, announced that Vish Ganapathy, Director and Chief Technologist for IBM Global Retail, will provide the keynote address on April 28 at this year’s annual conference.

Ganapathy will speak on the future of retail technology, as mobile computing and the convergence of online and brick and mortar exert greater influence over consumers. He has more than 23 years of experience as consultant to all major retailers, including Kroger, McDonalds, Family Dollar, Lowes and Home Depot; and currently manages IBM’s Global Retail practice. His areas of expertise address the critical and current topics that face our industry such as omni-channel commerce, customer analytics, merchandising and supply-chain management. After his address, Ganapathy will take questions from the audience.

“Vish has an incredible depth of knowledge in retail technology,” said Gray Taylor, executive director of PCATS. “His experience with world-class retailers and adjacent competitors who are investing heavily in new technologies will help our conference attendees identify trends and techniques that will improve our competitiveness.”

The PCATS Annual Conference, attended by the industry’s leading technology experts and management, will be held at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona, April 28 through May 1. The conference agenda includes face-to-face meetings of all committees and work groups to further data exchange standards in device integration, payments, enterprise integration, mobile commerce, supply chain and data security.

The conference will also include informational sessions that dig deep into the technology challenges and opportunities facing the convenience retailer; such as mobile commerce and payments, business intelligence and data security. Each day will close with a social event, including the Technology Hall of Fame event on April 28.
