NEW YORK – New food items and limited-time menu offers certainly come and go, but overseas, chains such as Pizza Hut, Burger King and KFC are given a bit more leeway in terms of creating new menu items.

“Pizza with a crust that’s stuffed with cheese? Amazing! A taco shell that’s actually a giant Dorito? Genius! But believe it or not, even America’s most far-out fast food creations pale in comparison to what’s being offered by these same chains internationally,” writes The Daily Meal.

Here’s a look at some of the interesting food finds that the news source compiled:

Pizza Hut Sri Lanka: The “Birizza”
A take on the popular Biryani South Asian rice dish offered as an LTO last July, featuring either chicken or paneer cheese topped with a pizza dough crust, an onion salad on the side and spicy gravy. 

Subway Japan: Sausage and Barbecue Sub
Offered in August 2013, Subways in Japan added a long sausage to the menu topped with barbecue sauce.

KFC Indonesia: Cheese Donut
The news source notes that cheese-topped donuts are popular in Indonesia. Offered in September 2013, the glazed donut was topped with shredded Swiss and cheddar cheese.

Pizza Hut Japan: Black Ninja Burger
Meant to resemble a ninja with his tongue sticking out, this LTO featured a burger patty, onions, lettuce, mayo, a hash brown patty and a giant piece of bacon — inside of a black bun.

McDonald’s Italy: Gran Chianina
Made with Chianina beef, this fancy burger came with onion rings, lettuce, cheese sauce made with pecorino Romano, and a walnut sauce inside a tartaruga (turtle) roll.

Burger King Vietnam: Kimchi Pork and Szechuan Beef Burgers
Released just last month in honor of Chinese New Year, the Spicy Kimchi Double Pork features two pork patties, American cheese and kimchi, and the Spicy Szechuan Double Beef features two beef patties, American cheese, onions, tomatoes and a spicy Szechuan-inspired sauce.

Krispy Kreme UK: Mince Pie Donut
As a special holiday treat last year that played off the popular mince meat pie in the United Kingdom.
