In celebration of the milestone, Spinx is hosting events throughout 2012, with a 40th Anniversary Celebration event at a local store every 40 days throughout the year where they will give away free gas to 40 customers.

The first event kicks off today at a location to be revealed (cryptically, via clues) on the Spinx Facebook page.

In addition to store events, Spinx will be offering $1,000 scholarships to 40 local high school seniors. Online applications will be available on the Spinx website beginning March 1, 2012, with the application process ending April 27, 2012. Scholarships will be awarded over the summer.

"It??s has always been the Spinx philosophy to support children and education and this scholarship program is a great way to help local students achieve their educational goals," Spinx said in its release.
