Renowned Futurist Michael Rogers Announced as NACStech Closing Speaker

Rogers will join Paul Ollinger as a general session speaker at the May 21 to 23 NACStech event.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Michael Rogers, a renowned technology author, pioneer and futurist, has been announced as a closing speaking for NACStech, the industry??s most comprehensive event for top retail and supplier leaders to gather and discuss ways to improve convenience retailing through technology solutions.

Social media guru Paul Ollinger had previously been announced as the opening general session speaker for NACStech, which will take place May 21 to 23 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, Tennessee.

In 2009, Rogers served as a closing session speaker at NACStech, and told attendees to prepare for a future in which tablet-like devices would become commonplace. Nine months later, Apple unveiled a secret, new concept, the iPad. Within two years, tablet sales worldwide topped 100 million and revolutionized the computer industry.

"Michael Rogers is an exceptional fit for NACStech because he will not only tell attendees what is next, but what it means to their businesses, and how they can prepare," said NACStech chairman Ed Collupy, vice president of retail and POS systems for The Pantry Inc.

Rogers, who most recently served as futurist-in-residence for The New York Times, has worked with companies ranging from FedEx, Boeing and NBC Universal to Microsoft, Pfizer and Siemens, focusing on how companies can think about the future in useful ways. He has served as Newsweek??s technology guru and as the vice president of The Washington Post Company??s new media division. As an interactive media pioneer, novelist and journalist, Rogers also has studied and written about all the key technologies driving this century and has interviewed or worked with major business figures worldwide.

NACStech registration opened on January 17 at nacstech.com. More than 1,200 attendees are expected for NACStech, which features two general sessions, concurrent CIO Roundtable sessions, more than a dozen focused workshops and 100 exhibits.

NACStech educational sessions will cover topics including technology project management; benchmarking data; mobile couponing and payment; mobile, social and loyalty marketing; payment platform standards; POS trends; data mining; PCI network design; and item-level inventory.

The NACStech expo will feature point-of-sale systems. fuel equipment, automation consultants, cash-handling systems, software vendors, electronic displays, kiosks, knowledge management, loyalty programs, mobile applications, personnel software systems, security services, card processing systems, training services, wireless and networking services.
