Starbucks Moving Forward With Delivery Service

NEW YORK – CNBC reported late last week that Starbucks CEO Howard Shultz confirmed plans are in the works for the launch of “two distinct delivery models,” one of which utilizes Starbucks’s own people and the other “leverages the capabilities of a third-party service."

The company plans to share more details on the delivery methods in the coming months but says the service will generate more customer loyalty and extend customer engagement beyond its mobile app.

Speaking of the mobile app, after a successful launch of Mobile Order and Pay in Portland, Oregon, in December, the company is planning to expand the service to the rest of the Pacific Northwest as its next market launch before a national rollout later this year.  Mobile Order and Pay allows customers to place orders in advance of their visit and pick them up at a participating Starbucks store.
