OAK BRIDGE, Ill. - Now customers can view the nutritional value of any McDonald€™s food or beverage item with a quick scan of a QR code, Nation€™s Restaurant News reports.

The rollout of the new packaging started this week and will expand to international markets later this year. The calorie and nutritional data will be available in 18 languages.

"Our new packaging is designed to engage with customers in relevant ways and celebrate our brand," said Kevin Newell, chief brand officer for McDonald€™s. "Customers tell us they want to know more about the food they are eating and we want to make that as easy as possible by putting this information right at their fingertips."

QR codes can be scanned by a smartphone, which allow the user to access certain content online. In September, McDonald€™s posted caloric information on its new menus at all U.S. locations. The chain debuted nutritional data on packaging in 2006.
