QuickChek Creates Jobs With New Store

The new Somerset store in New Jersey has 35 local employees and opened its doors on January 21.

SOUTH BOUND BROOK, NJ – Continuing its commitment to long-term, steady growth, QuickChek Corporation opened its newest store in South Bound Brook, New Jersey, on January 21, 2014.

Bucking the current economic trend, QuickChek continues to grow, opening 26 new stores throughout New Jersey and Southern New York and hiring an additional 1,100 people since 2007. Even more impressive: the company has never laid off an employee due to economic reasons during its 46-year history.

“We strive to be the neighborhood shopping destination close to where our customers live,” said QuickChek CEO Dean Durling, who presided over a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Jan. 20, the day before the Grand Opening. “This new store allows us to better serve the market and provide our customers with more food and fueling options in the area.”

The South Bound Brook store has created 35 new jobs, with most of the people hired living locally. A typical new store generates approximately $1 million in tax revenue, adding to the positive impact on the local economy. Most of the company’s vice presidents and all of its district leaders began their careers in a local store.

“Our plan has been to maintain good, steady growth over time,” said Durling, who company has been named one of the top private companies in the state by NJBIZ magazine. “With over 3,500 team members in over 130 stores, we strive to create a positive experience and fun environment where core values are nurtured, hard work is rewarded and leadership is cultivated. QuickChek’s “Made Fresh for You” food and beverage program features oven-toasted subs and fresh baked goods with the company priding itself on its fresh-brewed coffee, renowned for its high quality and wide variety of coffees roasted using their proprietary select blend that incorporates only the world’s finest beans, along with the widest variety of lighteners and sweeteners anywhere in the country, enabling customers to create their favorite brew exactly as they like it 24 hours a day.

The new South Bound Brook store will also feature a Q Café, which offers handcrafted smoothies, lattes, espresso and more; 12 fueling stations and 45 parking spaces.

QuickChek stores are modern by industry standards with the company maintaining bright clean stores, well-lit fuel stations and parking lots with wide, easy-to-use entrances and exits that add to a shopper’s convenience.

The Whitehouse Station, N.J.-based company operates 138 retail locations throughout New Jersey and Southern New York, including 12 pharmacy stores and 44 locations with fuel. The family-owned and operated chain enjoys the rare distinction of being named one of the Best Places to Work for in both New Jersey and New York State.

Active in the community, QuickChek has raised more than $1.5 million for the Juvenile Diabetes Relief Foundation since 2000, $124,875 for the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) and $125,000 for First Lady Mary Pat Christie’s Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund SM the past year.

Grand Opening promotions include free medium coffee and free 20-ounce iced coffee offered to all patrons and free 20-ounce fountain or QuickFreeze drinks for children 5-feet-tall and under from Jan. 21-Feb. 2, 2014. QuickChek will also donate $0.25 for every sub, sandwich and wrap sold from Jan. 21-Feb. 16, 2014 to the South Bound Brook Little League.
