NRN Power List Features Convenience Store Executive

Joseph DePinto of 7-Eleven named to restaurant publication’s list of top foodservice industry disruptors.

NEW YORK – Now in its third year, the Nation’s Restaurant News (NRN) Power List ranks industry leaders who are setting trends today and shaping them for tomorrow.

Under the “Disruptors” category, 7-Eleven CEO Joseph DePinto heads up a list that also includes John Mackey, co-founder and co-CEO of Whole Foods Markets, and a keynote speaker at last year’s NACS Show.

Under DePinto’s leadership, he has positioned 7-Eleven to be a threat to quick-service restaurants’ market share, notes NRN’s website.

In December, 7-Eleven announced a partnership with mobile commerce company Tapingo for delivery to select college campuses, helping the chain potentially expand its snack and late-night meal business. “We’ve seen a tremendous demand from students for late-night eats. Sometimes, you need a Slurpee and a pizza at 1 am!” said Jeff Hardy, Tapingo’s chief business officer in a statement to NRN.
