January 18, 2017

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – In June, convenience and fuel retailing industry professionals from around the world will gather in Zurich and London—for new knowledge, commercial connections, networking and the opportunity to discover and discuss new ideas from retail store tours—at the 2017 NACS Insight Convenience Summit – Europe. The event will also feature the popular International Convenience Retail Awards, now in their ninth year, that recognize and promote convenience retailing excellence.

Confirmed event and award sponsors to-date include recognized industry icons Accenture, Coca-Cola, Franke, Mondelez International, Shell and Verifone, with more to come.

Registration is now open for the European-focused summit. Because reservations made before February 28 will benefit from a significant early bird registration discount, now is the best time to register.

The Summit begins in Zurich, Switzerland (June 11-13), where the program will feature high-level European retail thought leadership, strategies, trends and economics. Networking receptions and a group dinner, along with store visits to Migrolino and other retailers, connect attendees and show them what is new in Zurich’s dynamic convenience retailing marketplace. The prestigious Robb Report recently included Zurich on its list of “the top five cities you should visit in 2017,” so it’s sure to be an impressive travel destination for Summit participants from Europe and abroad.

From there, attendees will travel to Central London at the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel (June 14-16). This is the main “must attend” portion of the event for European and international industry leaders, featuring retailer roundtables, best practice presentations, insights on key global trends/developments, retailer case studies and the famous awards night program. Confirmed presentations for London so far include Freshii CEO Matthew Corrin, Simply Fresh U.K. Managing Director Kash Khera, Bona Design Lab President Joseph Bona and U.K. convenience industry pioneer Mike Greene.

Conference session highlights in Zurich and London will focus on industry growth and innovation opportunities driven by rapid and business-changing pattern shifts in consumer shopping, lifestyle and on-the-go eating habits.

Specific topics include:

  • Current economic and political trends in Europe.
  • The state of the European consumer and insights into the Swiss market.
  • Emerging channel blurring between convenience stores and restaurants.
  • "Refreshing Convenience in the U.K.,” a provocative presentation that puts the U.K.’s fresh product offer under a microscope and examines both missed opportunities and challenges that the convenience retail sector has in improving fresh distribution and product lines.
  • Growing consumer demand for fresh and healthy foodservice, and how to succeed in creating a healthy experience with a strong customer service culture.
  • Retail technology transformations of the future.
  • An interview with the 2017 Convenience Industry Leader of the Year award winner.
  • The new direction for digital marketing.
  • The criticality of employee engagement and what it’s worth.

On Friday, June 16, attendees may choose to take part in a retail study tour day in London at retailers including Euro Garages, Simply Fresh, Freshii and others—all with the goal of sharing ideas and innovations that event attendees can take home to their own businesses.

The Convenience Summit – Europe is a modular program, meaning attendees can participate in the portions of the event that fit their business needs. In addition to day-by-day event pricing, registration packages combine popular clusters of days, events and activities for optimized pricing.
