MIAMI - Want a Whopper without leaving your home? That might be soon be possible as Burger King continues testing a delivery service at a few locations, Bloomberg reports. Currently, some Virginia and Maryland stores have been trying delivery as a way to boost sales, and the burger chain will up the number of locations from four to 16 next week.

"We are currently testing the service to bring this convenience to the U.S.," said Kristen Hauser, spokeswoman.

The delivery option runs from 11 am to 10 pm and cost $2 per order, with a minimum amount between $8 and $10. Orders can be placed online or by phone.

Burger King delivers meals, such as 40-piece chicken tenders and two bottled sodas for $10.99 or four large sandwich combos for $23.99. However, fountain drinks, milkshakes, breakfast items and coffee are not available for delivery.

The delivery test is the latest in a series of moves designed to restart the chain. Over the summer, Burger King announced a menu redesign and the dethroning of its king spokesman. Last month, the burger chain said it would be adding Freestyle Coca-Cola fountain machines to all its corporate locations.

Two years ago, 3G Capital Inc. purchased the chain for around $3.9 billion. Revenue jumped 1.4% to reach $608.1 million in the three months that ended Sept. 30, compared to a year earlier.
