Record Revenue at Taiwan Convenience Stores

7-Eleven stores experienced a 12.7 percent jump in sales and Taiwan FamilyMart had a 9.6 percent increase last year.

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taiwan??s convenience store industry had a very good year in 2010, with the top two chains registered record revenue, the Taipei Times reports.

President Chain Store Corp, which operates the 7-Eleven stores in Taiwan, reported a 12.7 percent rise in revenue last year, reaching a record $4 billion in sales.

December revenue at 7-Eleven stores jumped 9.9 percent year-over-year. The company attributes that increase to consumers buying 7-Eleven??s private label products and its fresh coffee.

Other convenience store chains experienced record years in 2010 as well. Taiwan FamilyMart Co, which operates the second largest convenience store chain, had revenue grow 9.6 percent last year. Taiwan FamilyMart posted a record $1.4 billion in 2010.
